Making Change Easier
Success Stories - Case Study 3
ASX Listed Research & Manufacturing Company | Significant Site Workforce Reduction | Extremely Short Timeframe | Multicultural Engineering Workforce | Limited Budgets
CONTEXT
The company contacted Outplacement Australia to determine our capability to put together a structured outplacement support program within an extremely short timeframe and with extremely stringent budgetary restrictions. They were going to be announcing the following week a major reduction in workforce numbers in their manufacturing and research arms.
The company was particularly concerned for their staff’s welfare given that many staff members were in highly specialised fields and a large number spoke English as a second language so HR were concerned they may struggle with resume development and interviewing.
PLANNING & EXECUTION
We met with the company CFO and HR Coordinator the following day with proposed program options that would provide their staff with maximum support at a small per person cost that met their budget requirements.
This included on-the-day notification support which the company highly valued as this was their first experience rolling out a redundancy program. Through the delivery of 1-day intensive group workshops using 2 facilitators per group we were able to keep costs down but still offer the personalised support and attention needed to assist those with language barriers and individual concerns.
RESULTS
The onsite notification went smoothly and workshop attendees were highly appreciative of the support they received in the workshops and felt much more confident with moving into the job market.
Feedback from Management
"I wanted to say thank you again for everything that you have done for not only myself but also for the company during Black Monday as we like to call it."
Workshop Participant Feedback:
"Not sure I got back to you to say thanks for the course on resume writing – it was invaluable. "
